One can apply for permanent residence at any time. However, for permanent residence there are basic and complementary conditions. In order to obtain permanent residence, all basic conditions and two complementary conditions must be met.
Basic conditions
1 : Fulfill all the required conditions.
2 : The applicant must have completed eighteen years of age.
3 : The applicant must have been legally residing in Denmark for at least 8 years. (This condition is excluded if the four complementary conditions are met).
4 : The applicant must not have committed certain types of crimes. (We will discuss it in another article)
5 : The applicant should not be in debt to the state, unless the debt is deferred, provided that it does not exceed 124.714.35 crowns.
6 : The applicant should not have received any type of social assistance or assistance in the last four years.
7 : That the applicant accepts the document of integration and active citizenship in Danish society.
8 : Pass the Danish language test Dansk 2 / Dansk 2 at least.
9 : That the applicant has a full-time job, or that he has had his own business for a period of no less than 3 years and six months in the last four years.
Complementary terms
1 : Passing the citizenship test or proving active citizenship in Denmark. (We will discuss in another article the citizenship test and how to prove active citizenship).
2 : Full-time work, or private work for a period of four years in the last 4 years and 6 months.
3 : The average annual income in the last two years must be at least 301,679,04 thousand crowns, before tax.
4 : Pass the Dansk 3 language test, or equivalent or higher.
These four conditions are equal, so it does not matter which of these two conditions the applicant meets.
Note: If a person fulfills the four complementary conditions, he can legally apply for permanent residence after a period of 4 years
